Grants

The Eastmont Community Foundation has as its mission improving the quality of life in eastern Montgomery County. Toward this end, it awards grants to educational and other nonprofit local groups from three funds for service and beautification projects.

▧ The Loraine Ryan Educational Fund awards grants to public schools, libraries, and non-profit organizations in support of programs and equipment that benefit school-age children.

▧ The James E. Pearman Sr. Legacy Fund supports the operation of Camp Alta Mons, Project LINC and the Meadowbrook Center.

▧ The Karen Cronin Legacy Fund awards grants to public schools, libraries and non-profit organizations based in eastern Montgomery in support of gardening, artistic and beautification projects and programs.

▧ The First Responder Fund funds certifications, skills acquisition and/or programs to increase skills in a first responder field. Available to benefit an individual, nonprofit or public entity that meets the criteria for first responder or local nonprofits. Special requests made by the sheriff, chief or director requesting training for department staff/volunteers will be reviewed by the ECF board.

DEADLINE: The application deadline for grants is April 15, 2024. Grants are awarded in May 2024.

Scholarships

Each year, the Eastmont Community Foundation awards scholarships to seniors at Eastern Montgomery High School. These scholarships are funded by the G.W. and Dot King Scholarship Fund, the Lena Mac Gardner Sammons Scholarship Fund, the Graham Family Scholarship Fund, the Ballard Scholarship Fund and the First Responder Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are sent directly to students’ accounts at the colleges, universities or vocational schools they will attend. The scholarships are based on academic accomplishment, merit, service and need.

DEADLINE: The application deadline for 2024 scholarships is April 15, 2024.

Volunteer of the Year Award

The Eastmont Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization with the mission of enhancing the quality of life in Eastern Montgomery County. It supports the community by running the Meadowbrook Center, the Waldron Fitness Center, Old Town Fields in Shawsville and the Eastmont Thrift Shop in Elliston.

It takes many people to make the Eastmont Community Foundation work and none are more important than our volunteers. They are the heart of our organization. Each year we recognize someone who has gone beyond the extra mile by awarding the Karen Cronin Volunteer of the Year Award.
